Who we are

OSSFE (Open Source Software for Fusion Energy) 2027 is organised by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). This notice covers the OSSFE 2027 website. If you have questions about it, or want to exercise any of the rights described below, contact us atprivacy@ossfe.org.

What we collect and why

Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use this site (for example, which pages are viewed and roughly where visitors are located). This helps us improve the site and plan the event. We run Google Analytics with Google Consent Mode v2: until you click "Accept" on the cookie banner, it operates in a cookieless mode that sets no cookies and stores no identifiers on your device, sending only anonymous, aggregated measurement data. If you click "Accept", Google Analytics sets cookies and processes information such as your IP address and browser for fuller measurement. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the "Cookie settings" link in the footer.

Registration. Conference registration is handled by Pretix, a ticketing platform operated by rami.io GmbH. When you register, the information you provide (such as your name, email address and any details required for your ticket) is collected and processed through Pretix on our behalf. Please see thePretix privacy policy for details of how that data is handled.

Correspondence. If you email us (for example at our contact or sponsorship addresses), we receive your email address and the contents of your message, and keep them so we can respond and follow up.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with the service providers that help us run the event and this site:

• ▸Google, which provides Google Analytics (in cookieless mode by default, and with cookies only if you accept analytics cookies).
• ▸Pretix (rami.io GmbH), which provides conference registration and ticketing.
• ▸GitHub, which hosts this website via GitHub Pages and processes standard server request logs.

Cookies

This site does not set analytics or advertising cookies unless you accept them. Until then, Google Analytics runs in a cookieless mode that stores nothing on your device. If you accept, Google Analytics sets cookies to measure site usage. We also store your consent choice in your browser's local storage so we do not ask you again on every visit. You can revisit or reverse your choice through the "Cookie settings" link in the footer, or by clearing this site's data in your browser.

How long we keep it

We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above: registration data for as long as necessary to run the event and meet our record-keeping obligations, correspondence for as long as needed to handle your enquiry, and analytics data according to Google Analytics' retention settings.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you, to object to or restrict certain processing, to withdraw consent, and to request a copy of your data. To make a request, email us atprivacy@ossfe.org. If you are in the EU or UK and believe we have not handled your data properly, you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Changes to this notice

We may update this notice as the conference and this site evolve. When we do, we will revise the "last updated" date at the top of this page.
